ASIS International and the Security Industry Association (SIA) recently held the inaugural Security LeadHER conference, calling the event “successful and groundbreaking.”

Held June 12-13 in Nashville, Tenn., Security LeadHER was “dedicated to advancing, connecting and empowering women in the security profession,” according to the co-hosting associations.

The event was attended by approximately 300 people and included a security tour of Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, a tour of the National Museum of African American Music and a women’s self-defence class.

Conference programming included a keynote from author and consultant Eliza VanCort called “Claim Your Success – Stand Tall, Raise Your Voice and Be Heard” and two education tracks: Leadership and Security & Innovation. The conference closed with a keynote from diversity, equity and inclusion practitioner, and spoken word artist Charity Blackwell.

“It was so inspiring to see more than 300 women and their allies gathered together to share stories, ideas and knowledge. We are already thinking about next year’s event and hope you will join us,” said Elaine Palome, director of human resources, Americas, at Axis Communications and event co-chair for Security LeadHER.

“I left the conference with so much excitement for the future of our industry!” added Antoinette King, founder of Credo Cyber Consulting and event co-chair.
